TOYOKEIKI and Engineering Company of Tokyo Gas Engineering Solutions Corporation conducted joint development of “ARPCO”
First installation at Tsukuba Gakuen Gas Co., Ltd, to enhance BCP

July 24th, 2015

TOYOKEIKI (Matsumoto city, president and CEO: Yasuhide Tsuchida) developed “ARPCO (Advanced Renewable Power with Cogeneration)” jointly with Engineering Company of Tokyo Gas Engineering Solutions Corporation and it was first installed by Tsukuba Gakuen Gas Co., Ltd.

“ARPCO” is a highly functional system that uses a combination of gas cogeneration and PV generation and takes advantage of electricity generated by them. It contributes to saving electricity and other energies at ordinary times and realizes stable provision of electricity in the state of emergency, so it can sharpen BCP (Business Continuity Plan) of facilities that adopt the system.

It will be our policy to distribute it as the dual generator system to enhance BCP, to various facilities such as office buildings, welfare institutions, hospitals and evacuation centers which need stable power supply to keep those facilities, and we set out to install 50 of it.

Features of ARPCO

  1. Combination of co-generation and PV generation realize local generation and consumption of energy.
ARPCO primarily uses electricity generated by PV generation, which is renewable energy, and fills the gap of electricity shortage by using co-generation. It realizes local generation and consumption of energy, which contributes to saving energy and electricity you purchase.

  2. It supplies electricity generated by co-generation and PV generation in times of blackout.
It enables you to use co-generation and PV generation facilities at ordinary times, and use them as emergency electricity in times of blackout. As a result, a combination of co-generation and PV generation realizes stable electricity supply when a blackout occurs.

  3. Generation output control using co-generation has possibility to save fuel in state of emergency.
It is useful to save energy because you can lower the power generation output of co-generation and save the fuel by using co-generation and PV generation at the same time. It is also the useful way to prolong the time of power generation time of co-generation when you have to consume the limited fuel in the state of emergency.

For your information, you can install ARPCO if either a co-generation or PV generation facility is already installed. It can satisfy the requirement of existing facilities to sharpen BCP.

Installation at Tsukuba Gakuen Gas Co., Ltd

“ARPCO” was first installed at the head-office building of Tsukuba Gakuen Gas Co., Ltd to enhance BCP.

The said company installed two units of gas co-generation facilities that have the capacity of 25kW (made by Yanmar Energy System) when it built the head office building in 2010.
This time, while taking advantage of the co-generation facilities, it newly installed the PV generation system which has the capacity of 9kW (made by Mitsubishi Electric) and a lithium ion storage battery (made by GS Yuasa Corporation) which has that of 16kWh, and brought ARPCO into service.

It can supply the electricity generated by co-generation and PV generation to the base of activity in the state of emergency when a blackout occurs.
It will be the said company’s policy to distribute “ARPCO” in order to enhance BCP of their head office, and to suggest it to research facilities that the company supplies in Tsukuba Science City after confirming the effect.

TOYOKEIKI Co., Ltd started selling solar panels from 2009. We have been telling you “PV and Gas go together”, which means PV generation and gas is the best combination, and have sold PV generation system that has the capacity of 52,000 kW in total with the cooperation of gas companies.

TOYOKEIKI Co., Ltd conducted joint development of “ARPCO” with Engineering Company of Tokyo Gas Engineering Solutions Corporation, which has a good history of many installations of co generation facilities through searching a synergistic effect of advantages of PV generation and gas, and decided to sell it together (“ARPCO” is patent pending).

TOYOKEIKI will contribute to the development of the gas industry through active product development.
