Effect of CO2 emission reduction by AMR, estimated at 214t/yr. for 100,000 households

February 10, 2022

TOYOKEIKI independently calculated the effect of CO2 emissions reduction through automatic meter reading (AMR), such as adopting TOYOKEIKI’s IoT-R.
AMR has been being implemented in Japan. Since the meter reading by car transportation is no longer necessary, there will be approx. 214 tons of CO2 reduction effect per year, when calculated with 100,000 LPG households. Which will be equivalent to the CO2 absorption by 15,310 cedar trees.

The data on which this trial estimation is based:

  • 70 meter-readings and 70 km travel distance per day (Actual data collected from LPG companies)
  • The vehicle's gasoline consumption is 13.0 km/L, and gasoline CO2 emissions are 2.322 kg-CO2/L
  • One cedar tree absorbs an average of 14.0 kg/year of CO2

In addition, the use of e-statements etc. will make the system paperless, and further reduction of CO2 emissions can be expected.

TOYOKEIKI will continue to contribute to the further development of gas energy by quantifying the decarbonization we can achieve.
